Douglas M. Dumler, attorney-at-law

Doug graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1973, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While at the University, he played football for the Cornhuskers, and was elected co-captain as a senior. Doug played football professionally for three years with the New England Patriots and for two years with the Minnesota Vikings, where he saw action in Super Bowl XI. His Viking teammates elected him as co-player representative to the National Football League Players Association.

During his NFL career, Doug attended law school at Suffolk Law School, in Boston, MA, and at William Mitchell School of Law, in St. Paul, MN, graduating from Suffolk in 1979. Since that time, he has been in private practice in Sharon, MA, for ten years and in Fort Collins, CO, since 1990. Doug is a member of the Colorado and Larimer County Bar Associations. His areas of practice include estate planning and probate administration, workers compensation for professional athletes, real estate, including Section 1031 exchanges, and general business and transaction law. Doug is a charter member of the panel of workers compensation attorneys, established by the National Football League Players Association.

At home Doug and Cathy are active in church and with their growing family. They have two grown daughters, two sons-in-law and even better, a three-year-old granddaughter.

Doug acts as counsel, advisor and partner to SummitWind, Wahpeton Wind and Blue Cloud Wind, LLC. Decision making, planning and checking the details are some of his responsibilities. Doug is precise in all he does, from considering all angles to exacting the best wording. It is a point of view needed to round out the rest of us. We really appreciate that about him.
